ImagineIT Timeline
The ImagineIT Project I created for this school year has continuously been a work in progress. I would like to spend more time allowing my students to explore outside the chemistry course curriculum; however, my students need to keep up with the curriculum demands, tests, their tough course load, and many hours were spent working on STEM Fair projects. On top of it, many students are involved in various extracurricular activities. To add to all of this, some students commute to and from school between 1-3 hours, round trip.
My plan for next year is to put together a better timeline, starting at the beginning of the year, within reason of the STEM fair time constraints. I hope to be more organized on my end, allowing my students to really focus on what they need to, intertwining the ImagineIT Project into the regular chemistry curriculum. I will begin this process starting in March as we continue to explore new topics in chemistry, allowing the students to be creative and make meaningful connections to the concepts. I feel that the benchmarks I set for March, April, May, and June will allow me to see how the ImagineIT project can really be incorporated into the chemistry curriculum in my department.
My wildest hope is that my students will leave their high school chemistry experience with their eyes open to how awesome chemistry is and a new understanding that science is never boring!
